WATCH: Joe Rogan says using TikTok ‘ends with China having all of your data’

On “The Joe Rogan Experience” this week, Rogan told comedian Theo Von, that using Chinese owned social media service Tik Tok likely puts all your personal data into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.

Rogan read Tik Tok’s  terms of service aloud, prompting Von to say, “Just tell me how it ends, man,” to which Rogan replied, “It ends with China having all of your data.”

According to the New York Post, recently leaked documents revealed that the Tik Tok’s parent company ByteDance is going to great lengths to publicly downplay their ties to the CCP. The company’s public relations department have circulated papers titled “TikTok Master Messaging” and “TikTok Key Messages” in an effort to unburden American’s of their worries.

“I read TikTok’s terms of service,” Rogan said, “I went down a TikTok rabbit hole yesterday – This is so crazy,” and Von asked, “Is it good or bad?”

“Bad!” Rogan answered and then listed examples why.

“Listen to this, this is from TikTok’s privacy policy. It said, ‘We collect certain information about the device you use to access the platform, such as your IP address, user region.’ This is really crazy. ‘User agent, mobile carrier, time zone settings, identifiers for advertising purpose, model of your device, the device system, network type, device IDs, your screen resolution and operating system, app and file names and types.'”

The Daily Mail confirmed earlier this month that TikTok employees in China can access American user data in a validation of concerns that US citizens are being spied on by the Chinese.

Rogan continued, “So all your apps and all your file names, all the things you have filed away on your phone, they have access to that. ‘File names and types, keystroke patterns or rhythms.’ So they’re monitoring your keystrokes, which means they know every f*cking thing you type!” Keystroke collection is a common way to collect a users’ passwords for all the services they use.

Rogan also said using TikTok allows the company to collect information from a user’s other electronic devices “Meaning they can use other computers that you’re not even using to log into TikTok. They can suck the data off that. That’s what you’re agreeing to when you download and start using TikTok.”
