Late-night television host Seth Meyers drew in abysmal ratings for the second quarter of the year, with Fox News late-night show host Greg Gutfeld blowing Meyers out of the water, despite Meyers frequently taking aim at the conservative news outlet.
According data from Nielsen Media Research, Gutfeld! saw its highest-rated quarter in program history, with Gutfeld being the second most-watched late-night host across all stations.
Between March 28 and June 26, Gutfeld! topped every program shown on CNN and MSNBC, both in total viewers and the key 25-54 demographic.
The Fox News late-night show also showed double-digit percent growth from the same quarter last year, both in total viewers and within that key demographic.
In the second quarter, Gutfeld! averaged nearly 2 million viewers, and 344,000 in the 25-54 demographic, which outperformed both ABCâs Jimmy Kimmel Live! And NBCâs The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in total viewers.
Gutfeld! also outperformed Comedy Centralâs late-night show The Daily Show, as well as TBSâ Full Frontal with Samantha Bee in both total viewers and the 25-54 age demo.
On the other hand, Meyersâ show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, brought in just 785,000 viewers on average.
While Gutfeld! drew in an average of 344,000 viewers in the 25-54 age demographic, Meyers saw just 215,000.
These dismal numbers for Meyers come as the late-night host continues to blast Fox News on a nightly basis.
In some of Meyersâ episodes released at the end of June, he took aim at Fox News opinion hosts, saying they were “stunned and flailing” following Cassidy Hutchinsonâs surprise testimony before the January 6 committee.
âThey just cycled through a bunch of different lines from screaming about media bias to claiming everyone knows Trump gets angry to dismissing Hutchinson as a low-level staffer who supposedly had ulterior motives,” Meyers said, according to The Wrap.
It was during this “A Closer Look” segment that Meyers took particular issue with comments made by Laura Ingraham, who said that Hutchinson looked like she was “auditioning” for a reality show.
“You voted for a literal reality show host for president! Did you dipsh*ts just memory-hole the fact that before he was president, Trump spent most of his time in a fake boardroom yelling at Gene Simmons and Lisa Rinna over their flailing hotdog business? It was his last job before president!” Meyers remarked.
In another episode from the same week, Meyers said that Fox News was trying to cover up January 6 revelations by focusing on violence from Antifa and the recent Supreme Court ruling regarding Roe v Wade.
“Whenever a news story happens that Fox News knows is bad for Republicans politically, like overturning an overwhelmingly popular constitutional right, Fox tries to pivot by convincing your grandparents that Antifa is currently outside their house right now threatening to steal their flagstones and take their lawn gnomes hostage,” Meyers said, according to The Daily Beast.
“They love to do this childish thing where they accuse the left of doing the thing they actually did,” Meyers continued. “Like, theyâre the ones who fomented a violent coup to overthrow the government.”
Meyers added that “when theyâre not lying and calling the left violent, theyâre lying and calling the left hysterical.” He said that Republicans are “trying to have it both ways” by “celebrating” their victory in the Supreme Court while also “gaslighting everyone into thinking nothing has actually been banned.”
