What is DLI?

A designated educational institution is a training center – a college or university that is authorized to admit international students from a province or regional authority.

A Study Permit is required for undergraduate or postgraduate students. To obtain a study permit, applicants must first obtain a permit from a registered educational organization.

Designated educational institutions in Canada receive a DLI number. Applicants applying through Student Direct Stream (SDS) must first obtain a letter of acceptance from an approved educational organization in order to obtain a research permit.

Work visa after graduation

As an international student, you may want to know if you will be able to work after graduation. You may be eligible for the Postgraduate Work Permit Program, even if you are attending designated educational institutions in Canada.

In addition to graduating from an accredited recognized educational institution, you must meet all the additional requirements to obtain a work visa after graduation.

How does it work

It takes two steps to become an international student in Canada –

Step 1: To get started, you must be admitted to a Canadian school or designated educational institution in Canada. Once you have received a letter of acceptance, you can apply to the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada for an IRCC.

Step 2: If you are granted a study permit, it is because you have been admitted to a Canadian school. If you are a high school student, you can change your school, program, subject or level of study without having to apply for a new study permit.
